Many years ago, when I was an editor at Fine Woodworking magazine, I wrote an article in which I demonstrated three jigs I used to work small parts. One of them was a shooting board. It was pretty darn big, made for my Lie-Nielsen No. 9 miter plane. I still have it and love it, but it’s just too big for most of my work. So, a few years ago, I designed and made a shooting board that I use with my Lie-Nielsen No. 60 1/2 block plane. What a huge improvement! It’s much easier to use when working the little parts that go into my boxes and cabinets. Behind the paywall break, I’ll provide drawings of the shooting board, and give some tips for using it.
