Furniture making is a tool dependent endeavor, regardless of whether they are powered by human muscle or motor. It’s natural that we spend a lot of time thinking about them, admiring them, and fretting over which ones to buy. That last bit, about which tools to buy, seems to be eternally perplexing. Not only must you decide the type of tool you need, want, or should get first, but after you’ve made that choice, you’ve got to figure out the specific variation and brand to buy. And because woodworking tools can take a healthy bite from you bank account, working through those questions can be stressful. Moreover, the less experience you have making furniture, the more difficult it is to navigate the process from beginning to end. All of this explains why tool reviews are immensely popular. (Trust me, after 10 years at Fine Woodworking, where I oversaw a ton of tools reviews, they are eterenly and eternally popular.)
